Intuit Developer Setup

Before you can use the QuickBooks Invoicing integration with HubSpot, you need to create and configure a QuickBooks app in the Intuit Developer Portal. This app will provide the OAuth credentials needed to securely connect HubSpot to your QuickBooks account.

Overview

This section guides you through creating a QuickBooks Online app in the Intuit Developer Portal. You’ll learn how to:

  • Create an Intuit Developer account
  • Set up a new QuickBooks Online app with development credentials
  • Configure OAuth settings and redirect URIs
  • Obtain your Client ID and Client Secret for testing
  • Set up production credentials when ready to go live
  • Understand the difference between Sandbox and Production environments

Prerequisites

Before you begin, make sure you have:

  • A valid email address for creating an Intuit Developer account
  • Access to the email account (for verification)

Time Required

Setting up your Intuit Developer app typically takes 15-20 minutes.

Note: Sandbox testing is optional. You can skip directly to production setup if you prefer to work with real QuickBooks data immediately.

Steps Overview

  1. Create an Intuit Developer Account - Sign up for a free developer account
  2. Create App & Get Credentials - Set up your app, get development credentials, and configure OAuth
  3. Production Setup - Complete app details questionnaire to get production credentials (when ready to go live)
  4. Understand Sandbox vs Production - Learn about the different environments

Important Notes

Note: You must complete this setup before installing the HubSpot integration. The Client ID and Client Secret you obtain here will be entered in the HubSpot app settings.

Security: Keep your Client Secret secure. Never share it publicly or commit it to version control.
